Where do I come from?

I was born in Frankfurt am Main, grew up in the suburbs of Zurich in Switzerland and I still have French roots. But what I identify most with is being Swiss.

Why do I sing?

Singing has accompanied me since I can remember. For me it is the purest form of expression.

And what do I like apart from singing?

Dancing, reading, animals, sports, learning languages, working with children, being active in general and always experiencing and learning something new!

My own personal musical highlight?

My debut at Zurich Opera in "La rondine" in September 2023.

My motto?

„Not my circus, not my monkeys”.

Biography

Annabelle Kern was born in Frankfurt am Main and raised in Germany and Switzerland.
Starting September 2023, she will study at Theaterakademie August Everding in the Master Opera with KS Christiane Iven. 2019-2023 she studied at the Berlin University of the Arts in the Bachelor Vocal/Musical Theater program with Prof. Carola Höhn, where she made her debut as Barbarina in the July 2022 production of LE NOZZE DI FIGARO. 2023 she gave her debut in Puccinis LA RONDINE as un cantore (“A waitress”) at Opera House Zurich.

In addition to opera, Lied has been part of her life since the beginning of her career. In 2021 she sang a solo recital as part of the „FREIHEIT“ festival of Faktor:Musik Zurich with her duo partner Valentina Pfister. She gave further solo recitals in the Zurich area in 2019 and 2020.
She was a multiple prize winner at the „Swiss Youth Music Competition“, in 2018 she became a finalist of the Elvira Lüthi Wegmann Foundation Competition „Elvirissima“ and a finalist at the Förderpreis Klassik of the Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich. In 2022, she won 1st prize at the LIONS Music Prize Germany in District 111ON and 3rd prize at the LIONS Music Prize Switzerland.

She was an active participant in masterclasses with Prof. Edith Wiens, Prof. Ulrike Sonntag, Prof. Aris Argiris and Prof. Thomas Seyboldt.
