Marie Maidowski

Where do I come from?

I was born and raised in chaotic, creative and warm Berlin.

Why do I sing?

I can't imagine anything more beautiful than triggering emotions in the audience with my voice. Singing is my absolute dream job.

And what do I like apart from singing?

My favorite way to spend my time is with friends, good food and enriching conversations.

My own personal musical highlight?

My first professional opera production with the contemporary music theater "Alzheim" by Xavier Dayer at the Staatstheater Cottbus. And of course my first "Susanna" in "The Marriage of Figaro" with the Munich Chamber Opera.

My motto?

Wish it, dream it, do it!

The Berlin soprano Marie Maidowski made her debut at the Cottbus State Theatre in 2022 as Barbarina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and as a nurse in Xavier Dayer’s Alzheim. At the Munich Chamber Opera, she introduced herself as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro and Silvia in Haydn’s The Desert Island. In 2023, she performed the role of Lovis in the world premiere of the children’s opera Der Baumgeist by Leonard Evers at the Philharmonie Luxembourg.

The young soprano will be a member of the Hamburg State Opera’s International Opera Studio from the 2024/25 season. In 2023, Marie Maidowski and her Lied partner YoungSeob Jeon won the Staetshuys Fund Prize and the Van Amelsvoort Prize at the International Vocal Competition in ’s -Hertogenbosch. The duo, which will also be performing at LIEDBasel in 2024, was also awarded the Jury Prize and the Audience Prize at the HIDALGO Lied Competition.

Marie Maidowski is a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk and the Deutscher Bühnenverein. In 2024 she will complete her master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with KS Prof. Christiane Iven. The soprano completed her bachelor’s degree in singing and music theater in 2022 in Berlin with KS Prof. Julie Kaufmann.
