Marie Maidowski

Where do I come from?

I was born and raised in chaotic, creative and warm Berlin.

Why do I sing?

I can't imagine anything more beautiful than triggering emotions in the audience with my voice. Singing is my absolute dream job.

And what do I like apart from singing?

My favorite way to spend my time is with friends, good food and enriching conversations.

My own personal musical highlight?

My first professional opera production with the contemporary music theater "Alzheim" by Xavier Dayer at the Staatstheater Cottbus. And of course my first "Susanna" in "The Marriage of Figaro" with the Munich Chamber Opera.

My motto?

Wish it, dream it, do it!

The Berlin soprano gained her first stage experience in the children’s and youth choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Winning the promotional prize of the 19th Lotte- Lehmann Week in Perleberg and the first as well as the special prize of the 54th national competition „Jugend musiziert“ encouraged her to begin professional vocal training.

She studied singing and musical theater at the Berlin University of the Arts with KS. Prof. Julie Kaufmann. She attended master classes with Marga Schiml, Gabriele Lechner and Christiane Iven and participated in opera projects and workshop evenings of her study program as Ilia („Idomeneo), Ännchen („Der Freischütz“), Angela („The Firebrand of Florence“) and Fortuna („Il ritorno d’Ulisse“), among others. With a solo program of songs by the Jewish composer Ilse Weber, the soprano gave a memorial concert for the victims of the Shoa in Bad Reichenhall in 2019.

Marie Maidowski is a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk study support program and the Junge Musikerstiftung Mühlheim. In December 2020, she was a finalist in the German National Singing Competition in the category „Junior Competition“. Her first engagements will take the soprano to the Staatstheater Cottbus and the Kammeroper München in the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons.
