Where do I come from?

I come from Oberhaching, a village in the south of Munich

Why do I sing?

Because it's incredible fun to bring great music to life with your own body, through the interplay of language and emotion

And what do I like apart from singing?

Good conversation, cats, yoga, Indian food

My own personal musical highlight?

I was able to sing the Zweiter Knabe in a production of The Magic Flute in 2022. The scenic development and rehearsals with my fellow boys were a lot of fun.

My motto?

Biography

Orla Jane Geary was born in 2004 in Munich to a German-Irish family. Her mother is from Straubing, and her father is from Cork. She has been playing violin since she was five years old. For a long time, the instrument was her priority. Additionally, starting in sixth grade, she took her first singing lessons with Marion Spingler and sang in her mother´s school and chamber choir, including in a production of Die Fledermaus.

In 2022, she played the role of the zweiter Knabe in a production of Die Zauberflöte in Oberhaching. Orla attended the Gymnasium Oberhaching in the south of Munich until 2022. After completing her Abitur, she spent a year at the vocational school for music in Altötting, where she took singing lessons with Sabine Schütz. Over time, her original career goal of becoming a Musik teacher changed, and now she wants to pursue her dream of becoming a singer.

In the winter semester of 2023, Orla geary began a music vocational program at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, majoring in violin. Starting in the winter semester of 2024, she will study in Christiane Iven´s class at the Hmtm in the first semester of the Bachelor´s program in singing. Orla Geary received her first lessons in song interpretation as part of the Bluval festival in Straubing in a master class focused on art song. Her instructors included Julia Kleiter, Werner Güra, Anna Lucia Richter and Gerold Huber.
